LIGHTING DESIGN   DESIGN CONSULTANCY

THE CHALLENGE…

We were approached by Andrew Black Design in Dundee to design a lighting scheme for St Andrews Brewing Co’s new restaurant and bar based in the waterfront development in Dundee.

THE SOLUTION…

St Andrews Brewery opened their new bar and restaurant in Caird Hall, Dundee in early 2019.

Working alongside the architect Andrew Black Design, the fit out company Steam Punk and the electrical contractor M&E Leeds, we were tasked to come up with the lighting design. Our brief was to ensure that the venue could be used as a multi-functional space, whilst maintaining the different zones including intimate restaurant areas, exclusive private dining spaces and an inside/outside beer garden.

We decided to utilise track lighting system to allow the client full flexibility for when they are using the space for events. We specified an Illuma suspended track and spotlight system for the general lighting which was in keeping with the industrial look and feel, and then worked on each zone in turn.

For the bar, we used Aim Pendants from Flos which were suspended at different heights and angles. Over the seating areas, we used a variety of pendants from Wever & Ducre such as the Wetro and Concrete Tubes which helped soften the more intimate areas whilst remaining in keeping with the clients style and theme.

THE RESULT…

St Andrews Brewery pictures speak for themselves with all parties delighted with the results. Since its opening, St Andrews Brewing has already established an excellent reputation and become the place to go to in Dundee!
