Media Room – Central London

THE CHALLENGE…

We were approached by a property developer located in Central London who was building a high end multiple dwelling unit (MDU) with a dedicated area for a communal cinema/ media room space on behalf of Barratt London.

THE SOLUTION…

As well as being a cinema/ media room space, the area was to be used as a communal lounge and the residents could book out the space for private viewings. Our design had to therefore be user friendly and flexible enough to accommodate the residents requirements.

We implemented a 5.2.2 cinema system using a combination of Bowers & Wilkins in-wall speakers. CWM Cinema 7 speakers were used for the front left, center and right speakers. B&W CCM Cinema 7 speakers were specified for the overhead rear sppeakers, and CWM7.5 speakers were used for the side speakers. Lastly, we used two Bowers and Wilkins ISW-4 subwoofers to complete the speaker setup.

We used the Sony VPL-HW65ES projector in a Future Automation PD2.5 projector lift with a 2.7m 16:9 electric tensioned projection screen…….

At the centre of the system, we had a Denon AVR-X4200W AV 4K Receiver, and a Bowers & Wilkins SA250 Mk2 Sub Amplifier alongside a Denon Bluray player and AMX Central Processor all housed within a Middle Atlantic equipment rack.

The space is controlled via an AMX MXD-701 wall mounted touch panel with a simple GUI to ensure ease of use.

THE RESULT…

Since the completion of this installation, we have found that more and more developers are adopting this type of facility format, which is becoming the norm for multiple dwelling units, particularly in London.
