THE CHALLENGE…

Pyramid were approached in 2012 by the owners of Cofton Holiday Park who were in the process of building a massive extension to their existing clubhouse facilities.

Cofton Holiday Park is set within 80 acres of glorious Devon countryside, and is a family friendly UK holiday park with a wide choice of holiday accommodation.

The remit was to design and install a multizone audio, video and lighting control systems throughout the two floor building. Working alongside the main building contractors we set about installing the complex system early in 2013, with a view to be ready for the summer season.

THE SOLUTION…

We are no stranger to leisure facilities having designed and built multizone audio systems into a number of holiday parks over the years. Our intention is to provide the best quality and affordable systems to park owners in order to help them maximise income from their facilities.

Starting with the audio, as a Bose Professional Partner we are lucky to have a wide portfolio of specialist audio products to choose from, and as such were able to design audio systems for unique environments, including; swimming pool, external terraces, entertainment stage and dancefloor, bars, restaurant, kids area and public areas.

Using a mix of products we created high quality sound systems for background and live music, including a multi-zone paging system.

Video was a major element of the project and we deployed a number of TV screens around the facility, all with the ability to present videos, various TV channels for major sporting events and general viewing, as well as having a separate facility to show digital signage based images and promotions, as well as presentations, perfect for conference and events organisers to use.

The events stage had a simple projection system installed so as to allow for kids movies to be shown on some of the wetter Devon days!

Lighting design and control was provided throughout the restaurant, bar and events stage, all controlled by a Rako system allowing preset scenes to be recalled at the touch of a button. This ensured consistency of lighting design at all stages, as well as provide energy saving benefits by ensuring the lighting is set to the optimum levels at any time of day. Numerous keypads are strategically placed around the venue for easy access to the lights

The whole system is also controlled via an iPad which is able to select any audio or video source in any zone by touching on the particular part of the virtual floorplan. Running on a backbone of AMX control systems, the iPad interface provides an easy to use and robust user control platform.

THE RESULT…

Cofton Holiday Park’s Owners the Jeffery’s created an exemplary facility with a keen eye for detail at all stages of the build. All too often leisure facilities are rushed into opening early in order to maximise early season income, and are generally compromised as a result with poor finishes and latent issues with facilities. Not Cofton, and the building shows itself off as a quality product on all levels.

We were delighted to work with Chris and his family on this project and have continued to this day with upgrades and improvements to a wide variety of areas, such as additional events lighting and acoustic treatments.
