We were approached by a client located in Exeter who was building a large new property and wanted to have a dedicated space for gaming and watching films. The brief was simple, the screen had to be as large as possible in the room for almost lifelike gaming scale!
We housed the LCR speakers behind a 3m wide 4k enhanced acoustically transparent screen from Screen Excellence, mounted onto a bespoke speaker buffer wall. The design of the screen wall allowed for the AV rack cupboard plus space for the client’s gaming equipment and games to be stored on open shelves.
The video solution was achieved using an EPSON TW9300 projector mounted vertically using a bespoke mirror rig from DT Technologies. The design enabled us to extend the focal length from lens to screen and therefore creating a larger image than would have been possible using a traditional ceiling mounted method. The eventual screen size was 135” diagonal 1.85:1 3m wide screen.
The client had an Xbox One, Playstation, SkyQ and Amazon Fire stick as his sources, so we used Control4 as the main control system so that they could access all sources from the Control4 app on their iPad or via the Control4 handheld remote. In addition to this, the Control4 system controlled the lighting which consisted of iGuzzini laser blade downlights and RGBW LED coffer lighting.
An amazing space used every day by the client and his family. The audio fills the room very well and the scale of the image is very impressive, at 1.7m high the gaming experience is almost 1:1 scale.
