RESIDENTIAL AV   HOME AUTOMATION   LIGHTING DESIGN

THE CHALLENGE…

We were approached by a tech-savvy client based in Cambridge who was building their dream home (high-end residential property). Having extensively researched the smart home market, our clients were keen to automate their whole home as well as install a dedicated luxury home cinema in their attic.

THE SOLUTION…

Control 4 was the backbone of this dream home smart controls for this stunning six bedroom property, including a variety of keypads, touch panels and SR260 handheld remotes throughout the property to control the audio, video and security seamlessly.

Whilst the lighting scheme had already been agreed, we worked with the client to install a Rako system controller which then interfaced with the Control 4 system.

As keen entertainers, our clients were keen to ensure their home was fit for purpose with audio coverage extended to all communal areas.

We took a bronze, silver and gold grading approach for the speakers throughout the house, using Bowers & Wilkins CCM speakers. The CCM362 (bronze grade) speakers were used in transition spaces and back of house areas such as hallways and utility areas, CCM382 (silver grade) speakers were used in guest bedrooms and study, and then CCM664 (gold grade) speakers were used in the Master Suite and Kitchen.

The living room had the client’s existing B&O BeoLab speaker system with a Yamaha DS-5600 soundbar and subwoofer which worked wonderfully for this flexible space. Externally, some Bowers & Wilkins AM-1 speakers were used for the patio areas to provide a seamless audio experience for the family and guest alike on sunny days!

As well as the obvious screens in communal areas, the Master Bedroom had its own dedicated projector complete with a discrete ceiling recessed electric projection screen which dropped down in front of their french doors when in use.

The attic cinema was treated as a separate project which has won numerous industry accolades since its installation. You can read about our award winning design here…

THE RESULT…

Not one to stand still, we continue to work closely with the property owner who is keen to ensure he keeps up to date with the very latest tech trends and has a house that wows every time.

Vince Haines, Owner

“We just wanted to say a very big thank you for working so hard to bring everything together. Our guests were gobsmacked by the technology and features around the house.”

The home cinema was also awarded the CEDIA ‘Best Home Cinema’ award in 2017. Read more about this here…
